The Shell Guide to England, first published in 1970, is one of the outstanding guide-books of our time. This new edition follows the same pattern as the original, and includes all the general essays on the farming scene, townscapes, the village and the country house, churches and cathedrals, rivers, woodlands, mountains and moorland, the industrial heritage, the English garden and architectural follies.
